THE MARSHA ORKIS HUMMINGBiRD SCHOLARSHIP

Marsha Orkis was born and raised in Fulton, NY where she and her husband lovingly raised three children - all alumni of G. Ray Bodley High School. A big believer in the importance of education, she volunteered and worked in Lanigan Elementary, the Fulton Junior High School and G. Ray Bodley. She taught her kids that big dreams can start in small towns, and are realized through dedication and hard work. She also instilled the belief that you have to have fun along the way.

A core value Marsha held is the importance of being well-rounded. That is why this scholarship looks to support a student who showcases dedication, achievement and fun in two or more of the following areas: academics, athletics and/or the arts.

Marsha always encouraged her children and their friends to pursue their interests and try new things, which fostered a curiosity and drive that her kids have taken out into the world. In memory of Marsha Orkis, our hope is that this scholarship helps students expand their worldview and turn their interests into careers that make a positive impact in the world.
